THE CERKNICA LAKE

The Cerknica Lake (GPS: 45.7547, 14.3762)

An extraordinary Karst phenomenon, the Cerknica Lake is an intermittent lake, known for the fact that during the autumn, it is the largest lake in Slovenia, with a size of 26 km2, while during the summer, the water can disappear into the ground completely. The lake is in a constant cycle of growing and shrinking.

WE RECOMMEND:

- Visiting the Cerknica Lake Museum

- Renting a bike and riding the quiet country roads around the lake (particularly during spring)
