REPENTABOR / MONRUPINO

The Repentabor Church (GPS: 45.72, 13.78)

Repentabor (Italian name: Monrupino) is the smallest municipality in the Trieste region, but its inhabitants are still closely connected with Slovenia and its cultural heritage. The municipality is situated on a typical Karst landscape. On the Tabor hill, the Church of the Virgin Mary, along with the defensive walls, was an important place of shelter during the Turkish incursions. Every 4 years, the village organizes a traditional Karst 'ohcet', an event showcasing traditional weddings from the past. You can also visit a traditional Karst house.
